Let's talk about AI
First of all what is AI?
Artificial Intelligence is a system or if I may say an
i-Human designed by us. To make machine what a human can do is AI. They are the
systems that mimics and depends on data of daily human activities from life. From
SIRI to self-driving cars all is AI.
Today’s AI systems are narrow AI i.e. weak AI, from ‘Narrow AI’, I am referring to the AI that can only do internet searches or facial recognition or theorems for playing games like chess and many more. However, the long-term goal that we have is to reach the level of general AI i.e. ‘Strong AI’ so that we could achieve a position where there will be no difference between the work that Humans do and AI can do too. There is also a level which is a long-way to achieve that is ‘Super AI’ which is the ultimate form of AI which will be discussed further.
How did AI originated?
At least since the first century BCE, human have been
intrigued by the possibility of creating machines that mimic the human brain.
In modern times, the term ‘Artificial Intelligence’ was coined in 1955 by John
McCarthy. In 1956, McCarthy and others organized a conference titled the “Dartmouth
Summer Research Project on Artificial Intelligence”. This beginning led to the
creation of machine learning, deep learning, predictive analytics, and now to
prescriptive analytics. It also gave rise to a whole new field of study, data
science.
Why AI is important?
Today, the amount of data that is generated by humans
and machines far outpaces human’s ability to absorb, interpret and make complex
decision based on the data. AI forms the basis of computer learning and is the future
of all complex decision making. For example:- Fraud Detection, is used in
financial services to monitor and detect fraudulent payment card transactions
in real time. Virtual Customer Assistance, call centres uses VCA to
predict and respond to customer inquiries outside human interaction and when a
person initiates dialog on a webpage via chat, the person is often interacting
with a computer running specialized AI.
Impact of AI in future
The AI is capable of changing the limits that humans
have. So, here are some of the things you should be looking out in the future.
They are as follows:-
1. Education
In this respective field we can expect AI to
go crazy where tutors or professors in future will able to identify whether a
student is getting bored or excited to study a particular topic. From this a
tutor or professor can make their lectures interesting for majority of the
students.
2. Healthcare
Here,
AI is making progress already as we consider it. If we think more in future
there will be self-service chat bots for patients, Computer-aided diagnosis
(CAD) system will be created for better performance at the diagnosis, virtual
nursing which will monitor you 24*7, Keeping a virtual medical review record
provided by hospitals and clinics etc. can be achieved.
3. Media
Talking
about the entertainment field, AI is rapidly increasing in media. Taking
example of Netflix, it is one the most subscribed media streaming company in
the world. Why? Because of the recommendation systems and user experience of
that platform is very well developed through AI. If we talk about the future in
media there will be extensive use of AR (Augmented Reality), VR (Virtual
Reality) and chatbots to enhance the content based on the customer reviews.
There are going to be so much innovations in terms of consuming content from
this platforms or theaters.
4. Manufacturing
In the field of manufacturing there is going
to be the demand of the collaborative robots i.e. ‘co-bots’- that can work
co-ordinately with a human colleague. There will be a risk where the AI robots
will replace the labour workforce in many aspects. There will be too much of
the data that will be generated from the automated machines at manufacturing
locations where AI and machine learning will be needed. AI can also be used to
detect malfunction or worst condition of the machines or some kind of equipment
through sensors.
5. Customer
Service
AI
is disrupting the customer service by making it more cost efficient, improving
customer experience and easing the work of agents. Making agents productive in
real-time that means prepare agent to be more successful in solving the
customer’s problems in a short period of time, Automating the pre-interaction
between the customer and company or any organization to reduce the respond
time, Enabling self-service and personalization of customer service for the
ease of customer experience.
6. Transportation
Transportation
is a task which is done on a daily basis, so in coming future the vehicles
which can drive themselves i.e. autonomous vehicles will be introduced to
reduce the human effort and increase the productivity of human mind. It going
to be here soon. When these vehicles will be introduced it is going to be a
mind-blowing innovation for many working professionals and many of the CEO
because this will be an opportunity where they can use the time at their full
without wasting their time in driving and reaching the destination.
